If you’re into cryptocurrencies and have a portfolio of assets lying around in one or two or more marketplaces, at one point I’m sure you’ve thought about having an all-in-one dashboard where you can just login and see if everything is going to the moon or not.
Sure, you can have your phone widget or ticker that will show you the price changes in the past hour, or you can simply open Binance to check the prices… but will you see how much you have, your assets’ value in fiat, the daily changes, charts, and other attributes you’d like to see at a glance, in one page? I don’t think so.
Sure, you can build one yourself if you have decent skills with Google Sheets or Excel, but why should you invent the wheel from scratch when you can just copy these free templates?
Reddit user /u/Fly115’s live crypto tracker can track up to 5000 cryptocurrencies, and supports moons on /r/cryptocurrency subreddit. With this spreadsheet, you can track your trading gain and loss in BTC and fiat.
The great thing about this? Fly115 has been working on this tracker for a couple of years now, and it is already on its 14th version.
That said, you can compare how altcoins are faring compared to Bitcoin. Not only that, it can also keep track of all the amount of coins you’ve had since you started, and how the balances have worked throughout. This is particularly useful if you live in a country that actively taxes your crypto gains.
Aside from the rows and columns that you’re used to seeing when it comes to spreadsheets, it also has charts so you can visually see the dips and spikes of your coins.
Can track up to 5,000 coins.
Tracks trading gain and loss.
Constantly being updated on Reddit (now on its 14th version).
Ahmet’s crypto tracker is a straightforward tracker that you can use to keep a close watch of your crypto portfolio. The setup is a bit technical, but if you have a bit of knowledge in Google Sheets or Excel, you will fare well.
The tracker does not give you live tracking, but it is near-live. You can automatically update the prices in increments of 5 minutes or more.
In order to add cryptos, you will have to use Google Sheet functions, which are available for copy/pasting on the link above. You will also need to edit the script a little bit to adjust the trigger for refresh, but it shouldn’t be too difficult to do.
For technical users since it utilizes Google Sheet functions to make changes.
Tario Sultan’s crypto tracker is another comprehensive portfolio tracker for cryptocurrency investors. The only downside here is that it piggybacks on the paid service Cryptofinance, but it has a free trial of 1 week.
Once that trial expires, you can still use its free features to keep track of your coins, but you’ll lose access to advanced tools that are useful for active trading. But then again, if you’re making money through your trades, a few dollars won’t hurt for a premium experience, right?
Tracks trades, volume changes, portfolio value changes.
Cryptosheets is a SaaS that does all the grunt work for you. It appeals to both hobbyists, analysts, and investors, so you can imagine how in-depth its features are.
It can integrate with both Google Sheets and Excel, and has pre-built templates and functions that you can use with just a few clicks.
It also supports hundreds of crypto exchanges, over 200,000 crypto assets, and derivatives. Compared to other services that tracks crypto for a fee, Cryptosheets’ free tier is extensive enough to keep you happy, but if you’re taking things seriously, then the price for upgrading isn’t bad either.
Who doesn’t know CoinGecko? It’s just one of the biggest cryptocurrency trackers in the world. It tracks over 8,000 cryptocurrencies, supports 400+ exchanges, and aggregates millions of data daily to provide an accurate report to millions of people worldwide.
That said, they also have their own API which can be integrated with Google Sheets. With their API, you can build your own cryptocurrency portfolio tracker, crypto tracker (of coins you own or are planning on buying), and analysis of coins where you can track the volume changes, price changes, and other indicators.
If you’re not very familiar with coding, you’ll probably need to spend a bit of time understanding CoinGecko’s guide linked above, but it shouldn’t be too difficult!
One of the biggest crypto tracker in the world.
An actual dashboard that will help you analyze risks, price changes, volume changes, etc.
CoinAtlas’ investment tracker is a free Google Spreadsheet template for crypto and stock investors. That’s right, it’s not just for cryptocurrencies, but actual stocks. It piggybacks on the Google Finance function where it pulls data directly from the stock market, and from CoinGecko for cryptocurrencies.
It is a 100% free tool that does calculations automatically and updates your history and the coins you are tracking dynamically.
The setup is relatively easy too. The template itself has the guide you’ll need to set up everything.
Pretty spreadsheet with charts and graphs.
Can be used for both Cryptocurrencies and the Stock Market.
Compared to the previous entries, Yogofubi’s crypto market spreadsheet is not a tracker of your trades, history, and coins, but more like a tool that helps you visualize your risks.
If used correctly, it will help you decide whether it’s time to sell or buy, or if you’re at risk of losing money based on the trades that you’ll want to make. But of course you’ll still need to keep an open mind and do your research.
Think of it as a “what if I buy X coin at $ 50,000, but days later it goes up to $ 60,000, how much would I be losing or earning then?” kind of thing.
Not a trade or asset tracker, but a risk assessment spreadsheet.
Cryptobooks is a spreadsheet designed by Redditors who are deeply into cryptocurrencies. It utilizes Google Finance functions and CoinGecko, so you can keep track of both stocks and cryptos with a little bit of tinkering.
It also hooks up with CryptoCompare, which is a paid service but its free account enables users to make up to 100,000 requests, so if you are a light user, this might just be the perfect tool for you.
Has an in-depth structure with graphs, colors, etc.
Utilizes CyptoCompare. Allows for 100,000 requests for free users.
Without going much into the technicalities that built this tracker, you can just simply create a copy of the spreadsheet and fill in the Config sheet with the necessary information so you can get started with pulling your data from various marketplaces.
It supports Kraken, Bittrex, Poloniex, Binance, Cryptopia, Kucoin, and Bitstamp. You just have to get your Key and Secret from your accounts in those marketplaces and the spreadsheet will start keeping track of your coins for you, including your deposits, gains and losses, etc.
Supports 7 of the biggest marketplaces: Binance, Kraken, Bittrex, Poloniex, Bitstamp, and others.
For cryptocurrency investors in India, WazirX remains to be one of the primary crypto marketplaces, but it is not that well known outside of the country so there isn’t much chance to create a tracker out of their API unless you make one yourself.
So it’s really great that Shan Eapen Koshy published a guide on how to make one, and provided a free template to keep track of your portfolio in WazirX through Google Sheets.
Built for WazirX users in India.
Straightforward tracker of assets.
So, did you find the perfect crypto price and trade tracker for you? Most likely if you’re heavily invested in this, you’ll need more than the items listed above, but hey, it’s a good start for hobbyists! While you’re at it, you might as well start tinkering and learn how to work with spreadsheets – it will come a long way!
In any case, I hope your portfolio goes to the moon!
DNS is the little technology that comes into play every time one uses the web, but hardly anyone knows about it. It is the very reason you can type “google.com” to make a web search without knowing its server’s address. What happens is: DNS resolves its address for you, making it as easy as pie!
That means DNS is used almost every time you browse a website. Therefore, if the DNS is fast, you will enjoy fast browsing experience. Moreover, the DNS knows the websites you visit, hence posing a privacy threat as well.
That is why you need to select a superb DNS. Fortunately, there are multiple free services that offer one or both of the two — better online privacy and advanced speed. That is not all, a few of them also offers filter feature, malware protection, and more. Does it sound interesting? Then let me introduce you to the best “DNS Servers”.
220.127.116.11, by Cloudflare and APNIC, is a free and privacy-focused DNS with super-fast global response time. It does not record your browsing data and promises to wipe off all its logs every day — good news for anyone concerned about privacy. I believe it is worth testing for any business or individual.
However, it is worth noting that 18.104.22.168 is a plain simple DNS with no blocking or filter features, unlike a few other services on this list like OpenDNS. Lastly, I like to quote its policy: “what you do on the Internet—it’s none of our business“.
OpenDNS, from Cisco, offers incredible speed with 100% uptime along with free anti-phishing and blocking features. It makes the internet safe and reliable for everyone — especially children — making it perfect for families and schools. Its OpenDNS Home provides customizable filtering and basic protection.
On the other hand, OpenDNS FamilyShield offers an independent solution for parents to filter and block adult content and even set up parental controls for their children as well. Moreover, its commercial plans for private users and small businesses offer usage statistics, whitelisting features, and much more.
Google Public DNS, an offering from the search giant Google, is a fast DNS with high response time, though it is slower than 22.214.171.124 or OpenDNS. Google Public DNS offers high security, allowing a better browsing experience.
However, Google Public DNS does not offer the privacy promised by 126.96.36.199 since it does collect some identifiable information about you and your web activities. Though it offers some privacy features yet its systems do not get audited by a third-party auditor, unlike 188.8.131.52 that gets his systems audited by KPMG.
Comodo Secure DNS is another easy-to-set-up DNS that has a strong focus on your safety along with a 99% uptime guarantee. It is fast, however, it is slower than the above three DNSs. Moreover, it blocks access to malicious domains and phishing sites including parked domains overloaded with advertising.
Comodo Secure DNS has an extra layer of web filtering as well, making it a safer and smarter service over any default DNS. Although it is a reliable service with a promise for speed, it does not boast of any privacy protection.
OpenNIC is an open and democratic service with privacy-respecting features and almost 100% uptime. It is a user-owned and user-controlled service, so various user-owned public servers are available. However, the raw performance constantly fluctuates in comparison to the other options on this list.
OpenNIC is explicitly for you if you are concerned about censorship as its servers do not maintain logs. You can choose the server closest to your location or take its suggestions of most preferred servers. Lastly, it provides support for alternate top-level domains as well, which are not supported by ICANN.
SafeDNS offers fast and reliable internet with 99.97% uptime. Although it is slower than the top three options, it is faster than Comodo Secure DNS. What makes it special is it protects you from malware, phishing, etc.
Moreover, it offers a parental control system along with black/white lists and blocks unwanted ads as well. However, it is not free; you can try it free for 15 days, but then choose one of its two plans, which are appropriately featureful and priced depending on your usage requirements (home or office).
If you are seeking a fast and uncensored DNS, DNS.WATCH is an ideal match. It boasts of having the uptime of 100%. DNS.WATCH is very conscious about your privacy and security. It promises to neither log any queries nor capture and store any of your personal details — almost like 184.108.40.206 and OpenDNS.
What I liked about DNS.WATCH is, it favors net neutrality, unlike ISPs. That means you can browse any website — no domain or website is locked out of your reach. Last but not least, it is free to use for all users, unlike SafeDNS.
DNS Advantage is an opt-in, recursive, cloud-delivered DNS by Neustar. Its free service is as good as OpenDNS and perfect for users who are looking for a reliable yet fast lookups while having access to all of the web. However, it does not feature any privacy protection, unlike 220.127.116.11 or OpenNIC.
What I find most interesting about DNS Advantage is, it provides a plethora of servers with varied features, allowing you to choose any per your needs. For example, its Family Secure DNS blocks all mature and violent content and its Threat Protection DNS offers a layer of protection against malicious sites.
GreenTeamDNS may be the last option on this list, but it certainly is a fast and simple cloud-based DNS. You can customize the security — choose a level of security per your requirements. It helps you enjoy family-friendly internet by blocking adult content, malware, and malicious or phishing websites.
GreenTeamDNS lets you select the three security levels as well. You can include or exclude any of the 40+ categories of blockable content, blacklist or whitelist domains, set bypass passwords as well as view logs for your network. However, its free service is supported by an advertisement model, unfortunately.

That is all about the free yet equally superb DNS Servers. Which one is your favorite? Do you already use a custom DNS on your computer? Please write a comment below or tweet directly to @aksinghnet to share your experience.
Everyone knows that handling PDF is really annoying. It’s difficult to edit them, and when you are finally able to, you don’t have the right font. And can you even save files as PDF on your phone? I don’t think so. Often you’ll need a laptop or desktop just to convert documents or images into PDF. That is if you don’t have these apps.
Here’s a list of updated iOS and Android apps that can help you convert any files into PDF. From Word, Excel, Powerpoint, JPEG, and the whole lot into a sparkling new PDF…all at the touch of your smartphone. So, no need to rush to your laptop if you need to immediately edit or convert a PDF from work!
I hope you find this list useful!
1. PDFelement Lite
PDFelement Lite is an all-in-one PDF editor and converter that can be used to read, edit, annotate, and convert PDF files whenever and wherever. You can also use this app to sign PDFs in case you need it for work.
Using this app, you can export PDF into different formats like Word, Excel, PPT, EPUB, HTML, and other formats. You can also combine PDFs into one.
Perhaps the best thing about PDFelement is its font recognition feature – you no longer need to spend hours just to find what font to use to match the PDF you are editing.
You can also take a snap of documents and instantly convert them into a PDF!
PDF Converter Ultimate is another all in one converter of files to and from PDF. You can convert any PDF to Excel, JPG, PowerPoint, CAD, Word, and text files — or vice versa.
It also features OCR – stands for Optical Character Recognition – meaning, if you take a photo or scan a document, it will be able to distinguish individual letters and words, not just recognize it as a photo. This enables users to edit the document directly on the app.
Unlike other PDF converter apps, PDF Converter Ultimate does not natively process the files, but sends it to their servers first, making it work well for phones on the lower end since it does not consume processing power and RAM – it also saves battery life. The only problem with this is you have to be online, of course.
PDF Photos is an iOS photo and PDF converter application that has built-in templates to choose from, templates that you can use to create layouts of the photos you want to turn into a PDF. This works well for people who wish to send photos and not just documents, or build a simple PDF presentation.
In a sense, it’s like using a Photo Grid application where you can place 2-4 images in one square.
You can also use this application to change the orientation of your PDF, adjust the margin and paper size, scale the image or fill the entire grid, etc.
pdfFiller is more of a PDF creator rather than converter, but you can do both with it of course. With its built-in editor, you can create documents and then convert them into PDF. It works for both iOS and Android, and has over 10 million usable templates that can be used to make documents faster, especially if you are in need of some business templates like contracts, agreements, etc..
One great point for pdfFiller is you can create interactive PDFs with it. So you can build PDF forms and have the receiver edit it directly with or without the application. If you’ve seen one before, some business forms in PDF can be edited directly where you can add your name, address, phone number, and other details. This is something that many PDF editors don’t have.
iLovePDF is a PDF editor and reader that is 100% free to use that works on both iOS and Android. All of the tools you’ll need to work with PDFs are included, like merging PDFs, splitting, compressing, annotating, extracting images from PDFs, locking and unlocking, adding pages and watermark, and of course it also works as a lightweight PDF reader.
It supports 25 languages and is still in active development, so support is really amazing. It does have a premium account, but the free version will work without a hitch for casual users. If you’re only converting 1-3 files to PDF, then it will work just fine. But if you’re a heavy user, you might want to consider checking out their premium version, which is packed with more smooth and productive features.
Genius Scan is a top-rated application in both iOS and Android, with over 20 million users and is used by thousands of businesses in their daily activities. It looks simple at first, but if you are in the business of keeping your expenses recorded, you can use its smart scanning feature to scan receipts or documents, automatically correct the lighting, distortion, shadows, etc., then convert everything into a PDF, and export it to your email, DropBox, Evernote, Google Drive, OneDrive, or even FTP.
It’s a very powerful application that utilizes OCR technology so you can search PDF documents, extract texts, and the like. You can also do batch scanning in just a matter of seconds!
One of my favorite features for Genius Scan is it’s security – you can encrypt any PDF as well as lock the app itself with biometrics.
Office to PDF is yet another PDF converter but this time it is geared towards Microsoft Office users. If you use this, you can securely convert Word, Excel, and Powerpoint files into PDF.
Once done with your conversion, you can store your files directly to iCloud Drive or DropBox.
While this is a secure and trusted application, it lags behind when it comes to its free plan which only includes 3 conversion of documents. Additional conversions can be purchased through the app. But hey, if it works, it works!
ClaroPDF is one of the few PDF viewer and converter apps in iOS that fully utilizes iOS’s accessibility features. You can enable “Speak in Background†so that your phone can read to you while your eyes are elsewhere, or while you are using a different application.
That said, it has a wide range of features that you will find useful. Annotating PDFs, adding notes, comments, smart zooming, adding of shapes, inserting images, etc.
The Pro version includes more features, like different voices for text-to-speech, adding of audio and video on your PDF file, customization of folders, sync with iCloud, extension to enable Safari to save web pages as PDF, and many more.
iAnnotate 4 is a paid PDF editor, viewer, and converter but this shouldn’t dissuade you from trying it. It works on both iPhone and iPad Pro, and is one of the best apps to use if you are always on the go and in need of something where you can jot down your thoughts.
Annotate, comment, edit, and then use the search function to search through everything – the text on the photo you scanned, the notes you wrote; something really powerful that only a few other apps offer.
One best thing about this is, you can summarize all of the annotations you’ve made in your documents and forward them as an email – or as a new PDF. Neat, huh?
PDF Creator & Editor is a straightforward PDF application for Android. It can convert text files into PDFs, split them into separate pages and files, or merge multiple files into one PDF. You can also annotate, add images, rearrange pages, export images from the PDF, and the like.
As I mentioned, it’s straightforward. While it doesn’t have fancy features that paid apps offer, it’s a lightweight app that just does the job and does it well. If you need something quick to use to edit and convert files into PDF, this one will probably work for you well.
So, have you found the perfect PDF converter for your iPhone or Android device? Don’t forget to share in the comments below! A little warning before we end this article: there are online PDF converters out there but these are, for the most part, not secure. If you are looking to convert a Word file into PDF and it contains sensitive information, you’d probably be better off with vetted applications on Google Playstore or the App Store. 😉
